The Sharks will play the Mayas de Yucatan at S.F. Austin High School located at 1700 Dumble.
The Mayas are the Southeast Champions of the Mexican National League.

“We are really excited about our upcoming season”, said Robert Reid, former Houston Rocket and the
fourth year General Manager and Head Coach of the Sharks. “We lost one of our top players, Chris Andersen
to the NBA Denver Nuggets, and that will hurt, but we still have the nucleus of last years team and we have
added some additional talent that will make my job a lot easier”, continued Reid.

Reid, a member of the Houston Rockets from 1977-1988, is still among Rockets career leaders in points, assists,
blocked shots, steals, games played and minutes played.

At the conclusion of his NBA career, Reid joined the coaching ranks.
He spent two seasons as a Head Coach of the Yakima Sun Kings of the CBA before becoming an assistant with the
 Washington Bullets.

In 1997, Reid became a member of the Southwest Basketball League Advisory Board.
His responsibilities include advising the League on matters involving player personnel.
He is also a liaison between the League and the Houston Rockets.

In addition to his role as an advisor, in 1998, Reid became the General Manager and Head Coach of the Sharks.

“We are extremely excited to have Robert back this year.
He did a great job last year with this team. This year, he will have an opportunity to build upon his success.
We are grateful for the commitment he has shown the League and he has developed the skills that will enable
him to become a GM at the next level,” said Charles Johnson, the Sharks President.
“We are also excited about this season. We start the season with a team from Mexico and in April, we take
our team on a tour to Asia”, finished Johnson.
